Art Jamz on Gibson Guitars
Posted by Nicole Aguirre | December 15, 2010

Since we’ve known him, Michael Clements, Executive Editor of Washington Life Magazine, has been looking for more ways to get even closer to his creative roots. It looks like he may have struck gold with his new venture, Art Jamz. The idea is as follows: for the price of a night out on the town ($60), Michael will provide you with a blank canvas, easel, acrylic paints and art supplies, dinner, booze, live entertainment, and the opportunity for one night to be a part of the creative process, instead of just admiring it. If you’ve ever been to an art opening and longed to be the one painting, this is your chance to get your hands dirty.
Worn Magazine was recently invited to a session at the Gibson Guitars showroom where we painted alongside amateur, aspiring, and professional artists alike. The night featured delicious sushi from Cafe Asia and a live set by U.S. Royalty. Check out what our fellow artists made, including a very special portrait of a hat-wearing Editor in Chief at the bottom.

Graffiti artist Tim Conlon paints in his signature style.
Agnes Widbom starts her portrait that later became an abstract, mixed media painting featuring a circle of ripped paper and clear glue.

Artist Adam de Boer makes it look easy as he paints an impromptu portrait of me in one of my favorite hats.
The finished product. Now hanging in my hallway. (I’m holding a red leash in my hand to symbolize my dog Rosie who’s invisible beneath the canvas.)
