The Jiggs and Figgy of TWEE
Posted by Joshua Yospyn | June 25, 2010
The story of TWEE first broke with fellow photographer Tracy Clayton’s phone interview posted on ReadySetDC. I already had some images of TWEE’s posters on 14th and U Streets, but I finally got a window into this tagger’s lovable “badass” personality because of Mr. Clayton’s deep throat connections to chase down the artist. Calling Shepard Fairey a “punk,” TWEE is a paradox of stormy sunshine. I get the impression this artist eats expired Valentine’s Day candy, frequently falls in love with the wrong person and might have reverse ambidexterity.
Luckily, I found TWEE electronically and my interpretations were confirmed. Over e-mail they wrote, “I believe that every good thing in life comes with a catch. Even that silver lining has a hole in it. Even in the imagery, there are contradictions. Good/Bad. Happy/Sad. Evil/Pure.”
As yet unidentified in the DC art world, TWEE’s soul feeds from a soggy Happy Meal box. But what do you think? Leave us a comment.

Wait, Twee actually replied to your email. WTF?
I’m not old school like you, I don’t do phone interviews. So I called, got their e-mail and sent questions.
