Welcome to Honfest, Part 1
Posted by Joshua Yospyn | June 15, 2010
What began in 1994 as a small pageant behind Baltimore’s Café Hon has become a massive street conference of spandex and sass. Just like their beehives, the sky’s the limit for Honfest. The women patrolling 36th Street in Hampden resemble a Laverne & Shirley version of Thelma & Louise. They are the children of a hard-wrought feminist gilded age who smoke, drink and chasten my virility all at the same time. They purr like a leopard, strut like a lion and bat lashes longer than a toothpick. Honey, where have you been all my life?
Suzanne and her girlfriend were getting their hair done in the Glamour Lounge (the constant wisp of Aquanet almost blinded me).
Make sure to view part 2 of Honfest for many more portraits from this event.
