Living in the Dupont of Wellington

Wellies are everywhere in DC and I never tire of photographing them. It brings out the kid in me. I found these blue polka dots last week, but saw plenty more at the Earth Day Concert today on the Smithsonian Mall. Of the 50 or so pairs I have on film, only two or three are worn by men. Which is strange, because these boots were first championed by the Duke of Wellington and millions of pairs were commissioned by the British Royal Army during both World Wars. So while their history is masculine, their modernity is more yin than yang. Either way, they keep your feet dry.
